Meet Chelsea...

Chelsea started riding lessons when she was 10 years old and quickly fell in love with horses. Starting at the age of 16, she managed multiple barns in Virginia until the Fall of 2011, at which time she began her education at Meredith Manor International Equestrian Center in West Virginia. During her time at Meredith Manor, Chelsea studied classical dressage, jumping, teaching and training, and also earned several awards, including an "Excellence in Teaching" award and "Outstanding Graduate".   She also had the opportunity to work with several young and inexperienced horses, teaching them to lead, lunge, accept tack, and then accept the weight and guidance of a rider.

Chelsea graduated in February of 2013 with certifications in Riding Instruction, Equine Training, and Equine Sports Massage Therapy.  She then moved back to Virginia to start a Dressage lesson program at Mechum's View Farm.  In the fall of 2013, Chelsea was offered and accepted a position on staff at Meredith Manor as an Instructor.  During this time , she had the opportunity to continue her own education and train under the school's top riding instructors  - Faith Fennimore Meredith and Nancy Wesolek-Sterrett.   She also started an Appaloosa mare under saddle and continued the dressage training of several school horses.

Chelsea believes in the classical Dressage Training Scale as being the foundation for all horses,  no matter the discipline.  She also uses the Riding Tree to help determine where her students are in their riding skills, and to assist them in improving towards an independency of seat, leg, and hand.
